Article No. 1

Name

This is a national federation consisting of registered trade unions formed by workers working in various labor sectors in different areas of the whole of Bangladesh. Its name shall be “National Workers Unity Centre”.

Article No. 2

Address

The address of the head office of this Federation shall be Road-15, House-09 (2nd Floor), Block-C, Section-06, Mirpur, Dhaka-1216. If the address of the Federation is to be changed, the changed address shall be notified to the Director General within 15 (fifteen) days as per the decision of the Executive Committee meeting and the change of address shall be approved by the Director General “otherwise it shall not be effective”.

Article No. 3

Objectives and goals of the Federation

a) To consolidate and preserve the independence and sovereignty of the country. To build a self-reliant, sustainable, prosperous, modern industrialized country free from the exploitation and control of imperialist and multinational organizations.

 

(b) Implementation of Bangladesh Labor Law, Labor Regulations, ILO Convention, OECD Guidelines and UN Declaration on Human Rights, Women and Children, and the judgments of the Honorable High Court.

 

(c) To work towards establishing decent living conditions for workers and employees of all industries in Bangladesh, including wages, salaries, allowances, bonuses, fair working hours, job security, security, suitable housing, suitable working environment, education system, health, medical system, various

holidays, provident fund, pension, insurance, gratuity, future security, accident compensation, assistance to dependent families after death, unemployment allowance and other measures for the enjoyment of work and life.

 

(d) To work for the enforcement and implementation of laws and regulations applicable to all workers and employees employed in factories in all industries throughout Bangladesh and abroad and to take effective measures against unfair punitive measures against workers and employees. To ensure proper implementation of labor laws and free trade union rights in all factories and institutions, regardless of ownership.

 

(e) To provide all possible assistance and advice, including financial assistance, to the affiliated trade unions and their workers on various movements including union registration, collective bargaining, strikes, etc. To provide necessary assistance for the welfare of the workers and employees of the

affiliated unions and to protect their interests. To work in unity with the organizations in bilateral, tripartite, conference committees, wage commissions, wage boards, labor courts, etc., as per the provisions of the Bangladesh Labor Act, 2006.

 

(f) Ensuring decent work, elimination of labor discrimination, including elimination of discrimination between men and women in the workplace, and ensuring a fair, free and progressive democratic trade union rights free from communalism, regionalism, corruption, terrorism in the labor movement.
